Airborne Industries assisted in the development of a research project with a group of students from Sussex University. The Airborne Team helped to create a prototype for a High Altitude Wind Turbine, a ring shaped Aerostat that contains a turbine to generate power.
The main objective of this project was to develop a HAWT for disaster zones and rural areas to provide electricity rapidly at short notice. The Aerostat was successfully deployed at the University of Sussex on the 22nd May. The Aerostat was constructed in only two days. Student, Aleem Baksh, worked closely with Airborne Industries Managing Director and the Airborne Industries Design and Production team stated:
